Have you ever had one of those “AHA” moments that you couldn’t get out of your head? For me it happened while on the phone with a friend sitting at my kitchen table. She asked me “why didn’t I know you did this…I mean…how come everyone doesn’t know you do this?”

The “this” she was talking about is knowing the ins and outs of real estate transactions, especially when it comes to first time home buyers. We spent the next few hours on the phone talking about what to expect not only during the negotiation phase, but during escrow, how to handle home inspection issues, and most importantly, making sure she understood her legal rights and remedies in the contract.

I sat at my table for a while after our call and couldn’t stop thinking about what she said…”why don’t more people know?”

I asked myself, why don’t more people in California seek out the advice of attorneys when they’re buying and selling real estate. These are huge decisions with major implications on their life, not only personally but financially.
